Mona Arshi worked as a human rights lawyer for a decade before she started writing poetry. Her debut collection, Small Hands (Pavilion Poetry, Liverpool University Press) won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection in 2015. Her second collection Dear Big Gods, was published by Pavilion Poetry in April 2019.


Zaffar Kunial was born in Birmingham and currently lives in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. He won third prize in the National Poetry Competition in 2011 with ‘Hill Speak’, a Northern Writers’ Award, and the Geoffrey Dearmer Prize in 2015. His first full poetry collection, Us, was published by Faber & Faber in 2018 and was shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and the T. S. Eliot Prize.
