Spoon Carving – Green Woodwork
Marketplace Theatre
028 3752 1821

Sat 20 May | 10.00am – 5.30pm | £70.00

Spoon carving is one of the most accessible and enjoyable woodcrafts you can experience. Using traditional tools to shape green [unseasoned] wood is a pleasure that is hard to match. The beauty of green wood lies in its ability to be shaped easily as it is soft and easily worked with hand tools. During this one-day workshop, Stephen Ryan from Green Woodwork Ireland will teach you the skills needed to become a traditional spoon carver. Each participant will learn axe, straight and hook knife carving skills to produce their own cooking spoon from locally sourced, freshly cut wood.

All tools and materials are supplied. This course is suited to all levels including complete beginners. Due to the use of sharp tools during the class, sturdy boots or shoes should be worn. Please wear old clothes, overall or apron to protect clothing.
