Traditional Willow Weaving Summer School
The Market Place Theatre and Arts Centre
03300 561 025

Fri 5 & Sat 6 July | 10am – 4.30pm | £85

On this two-day workshop you will learn to make a traditional willow shopper with an oval split base using various techniques such as pairing, three and four rod waling, English or French randing, four pair border and a wrapped handle bow.

Basketmaking is a very physical activity and therefore requires reasonable stamina which allows for standing up for an extended period, bending down, applying pressure with fingers and hands. You will also have the use of very sharp tools throughout the day’s work.

Please note: Previous basketmaking experience highly recommended. This workshop is not suitable for beginners.
