Palestine: The Flotilla and Beyond – Sarah Clancy and Gráinnemir Abualrob in conversation with Susannah Dickie

Sarah Clancy has published three poetry collections, Stacey and the Mechanical Bull (Lapwing Press 2011), Thanks for Nothing, Hippies (Salmon Poetry 2012), and The Truth and Other Stories (Salmon Poetry 2014), and has had her work published in Queering the Green (The Lifeboat 2022) and ‘The Art of Place – People and Landscape of County Clare’ (Liffey Press 2021). Her work has been published and anthologised in Ireland, Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Slovenia, Spain, Poland, the USA and Italy. In 2025, she had the life changing opportunity to take part in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a civil society attempt to break the illegal Israeli siege on Gaza.
Gráinnemir Abualrob is a Dublin-based Palestinian Actor, Workshop Facilitator, and writer, who completed a four-year programme at The Freedom Theatre in the Jenin refugee camp, Palestine. During their early years at the Freedom Theatre, they joined both the 2nd and 3rd generations of the school, focused on Theatre Studies and Cultural Resistance, a form of resistance that emphasises the importance of art as a powerful way to fight and confront oppression in all its forms. In 2025 with a group of Irish artists/activists Gráinnemir established Cairde Amharclann na Saoirse in Éirinn (The Friends of The Freedom Theatre Ireland).
Susannah Dickie is a poet and novelist. Her prizes include the inaugural Irish Pen Heaney Award.
