On this two-day course you will weave with home grown willow varieties to create a practical and decorative trug basket. This workshop is designed for anyone eager to move beyond round basketry and explore new weaving techniques. Previous weaving experience is highly recommended.

You will master techniques such as weaving and spacing oval bases, selecting rods for stakes and weavers, staking up, pull down wale, French rand, and the 5-behind-2 border. You will learn professional trimming techniques and how to finish your basket with a twisted willow handle making this durable and charming basket ready for use. Basketmaking is a very physical activity and therefore requires reasonable stamina and hand strength. You will also have the use of very sharp tools throughout the day’s work. Please bring a notebook and pen and wear closed toe shoes.
