Lughnasa at Navan: A Wickerman Walking Tour
23rd or 24th July at 11:00am or 31st July at 10:30am
As anticipation builds ahead of our annual celebration of Lughnasa, join one of our guides for a special walking tour to Navan Fort to discover why the Celts marked this time of year. As the countdown to The Wickerman Gathering (1st August) begins, our guides will reveal how Lughnasa honours Lugh, the Celtic Sun God, and how this powerful festival of light, land and community is celebrated at Navan Centre & Fort.
This enhanced walking tour invites you to journey through the legendary landscape of Emain Mhacha, the ancient royal site of Ulster, while uncovering the meaning of Lughnasa — the Celtic festival that marks the beginning of the harvest season. It also includes a unique opportunity to see the Wickerman before the fire ceremony on 1st August, offering a special preview of the centrepiece of this unforgettable celebration.
Blending archaeology, myth and seasonal celebration, this tour is the perfect way to build excitement for Wickerman, connect with the stories of the land and experience Navan Fort at one of the most meaningful moments in the Celtic calendar.
