At Armagh City Youth Hostel, we can offer you a hostel bed to meet just about any need. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfy, centrally heated and with natural light. All of our rooms have a private en-suite bathroom and wardrobe space to make your stay just that little bit more comfortable. Male, female, mixed dormitory and family accommodation is offered and our larger six bed dorms are ideal for the many school, college and sports groups we have staying with us. Safety and security are a top priority and there will always be a staff member on hand should you need them. To make things easy for our guests, the hostel has excellent parking facilities with ample space for coaches. We pride ourselves on being a family friendly hostel and a fun and affordable way for families to spend quality time together in a great base for discovering all Armagh has to offer.

The hostel, set on the hill from which the name of the city derives – Ard Macha – the Height of Macha, really is in the heart of Armagh City and close to all amenities. Renovated in 2013, Armagh City Youth Hostel became an affiliated hostel to Hostelling International Northern Ireland and has since been awarded a 4* rating from Tourism Northern Ireland. We hope you find everything you need to make your stay comfortable and most importantly, enjoyable. If you have special requirements, we will always do our best to accommodate you.
The hostel offers great value, squeaky-clean modern accommodation for up to 56 people in twin, double and dorm rooms, all providing en-suite bedroom facilities. We welcome groups of all sizes and interests, independent travellers of every age, families with toddlers to teenagers and we are delighted to have been awarded a 4* rating by Tourism Northern Ireland. Whether its tour information, food recommendations, top local tips or directions around the city, we can help. Our team are friendly, helpful, highly trained and determined to give you a very warm Armagh welcome. The hostel opens April through to October and will take bookings for large groups during the period November – March and for the festival periods. We are only a short walk to the main bus station with regular connections to the train station in Portadown and easily accessible from both Belfast and Dublin
Armagh City’s famous attractions are located on the hostel doorstep. Picnicking on the tree-lined Georgian Mall, stargazing in the world-renowned Armagh Planetarium & Observatory, stepping back in time in Armagh County Museum and Armagh Robinson Library, following in the footsteps of St Patrick to the mythical Navan Centre & Fort before touring the extremes of steeple and crypt in our two cathedrals. All the action in the city’s restaurants, pubs and theatre is just a short walk downhill. So, no problem either if you want space, peace and quiet to chill out alone or mingle with old and new friends after a busy day discovering Armagh.
Hostellers can cycle The Giro d’Italia 2013 route through Loughgall, stopping at Armagh Cider Company or Long Meadow Farm to experience the sights, sounds and aromas of a traditional Armagh cider distillery. The beautiful apple blossom countryside is also home to the stunning National Trust properties The Argory and Ardress House, Dan Winter’s Cottage and Sloan’s Museum.
