Alleyways is a socially engaged public art project led by the artist Kevin Killen. The artist’s challenge is to research and develop ideas and designs for an urban public art scheme through a six-month process of creative collaboration with the local community, before producing and installing a new public art feature for the narrow streets and alleyways in the centre of the city. The programme launches on Thursday 31st January at 2pm with the opening of a pop-up exhibition presenting information about this live project and showcasing the work produced so far by local community groups throughout the six month creative collaboration which took place in 2018.
Throughout February and March 2019, there will be a lively programme of FREE hands-on creative workshops, illustrated talks, town tours and research sessions led by the artists Kevin Killen, Robert Peters, Deborah Malcomson and writer Byddie Lee. If you wish to take part in any of the hands-on creative workshops you can register here http://connectedproject.eventbrite.com/
