Mark Magee is an Irish painter whose practice merges social realism with strategies of montage to interrogate memory, cultural identity, and the poetics of place.

Magee revisits the urban landscapes of 1970s Lurgan, where the intimacy of childhood recollection intersects with the political realities of the Troubles. His works re-stage these environments through a visual palimpsest of figures from pop and cultural icons such as Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust to the emergent punk scene, alongside spectral presences from his own past. In doing so, Magee creates a dialogue between nostalgia, trauma, and collective imagination.
