Experience harp music as in Georgian times
Saturday 28th November 2026 | 11am – 12noon
As part of Georgian Festival, Armagh City Library, another beautiful Georgian period building, will host a special performance by accomplished harpists Simon Chadwick and Sylvia Crawford.
Blending historical research with live music, Simon has been exploring the previously unknown history of traditional Irish harpers who would have performed in the former Market House, while Sylvia has focused on reconstructing the lost technique of playing the traditional wire-strung Irish harp. Together, they will perform duets of Irish airs that were popular during the Georgian era, using reproductions of period instruments.
The event is free to attend, but to avoid disappointment pre-booking is advised via Libraries NI. Email: armagh.library@librariesni.org.uk or Telephone: 028 3752 4072
