Christmas at the Cathedrals

This year we bring you a ‘12 Days of Christmas’ event from the remarkable St Patrick Cathedrals in Armagh. Featuring a number of musical acts from across the local area, together with a short story, all performed to spread the spirit of Christmas.

The below acts will be performing across the 12 days. Performances will be streamed onto our Visit Armagh Facebook page from 13th to 24th December at 7.30pm each evening.

Karl is a Lurgan based Baritone.  Karl has appeared in many productions during the past years and most famously represented Northern Ireland in the BBC Proms.

Normally at Christmas time he tours alongside Malachi Cush in a series of Christmas Cathedral concerts which have enjoyed sold out audiences wherever they have been.

Karl looks forward to joining the other selected artists in this series of musical performances.

Byddi is an Armagh based author. She has published flash fiction, a number of short stories and in 2014 her novel, March to November.  She has co-written the play IMPACT- recounting the Armagh train disaster and, during the pandemic has continued to write for a number of production companies.  For this series, Byddi Lee has written a new short story which she is looking forward to sharing with you.

Armagh Pipers Club need no introduction as they are regular contributors to the artistic fabric of Armagh. They will perform a set of traditional tunes with a unique and magical Christmas feel.

Catherine is a well renowned songstress from Keady. Being famed for her natural and hypnotic traditional style, Catherine regularly performs at celebrations in churches throughout the area and beyond. In this series of recordings she will be performing her favourite Christmas Carol “The First Nowell’.

Malachi is a well known and respected singer/songwriter and broadcaster.  He has toured extensively and has appeared both on stage and screen, nationally and internationally.

In this series, alongside acting as producer of the series of recordings, Malachi will join Karl McGuckin in a haunting rendition of  ‘In the bleak Mid- Winter’.
