Music of Georgian Armagh
Armagh City Library, Market Street

Saturday 28 November 2026 | 11:00 – 12:00 | FREE

Experience the sounds of Georgian Armagh through music.

As part of the Armagh Georgian Festival, Armagh City Library, one of the city’s beautiful Georgian-era buildings, will host a special performance by acclaimed harpists Simon Chadwick and Sylvia Crawford.

Blending historical research with live performance, Simon has explored the previously overlooked history of traditional Irish harpers who would have performed in Armagh’s former Market House. Sylvia has dedicated her work to reconstructing the lost techniques of playing the traditional wire-strung Irish harp. Together, they will perform a selection of Irish airs that were popular during the Georgian period, using reproductions of historic instruments.

This unique event offers visitors the opportunity to hear the music of Georgian Ireland as it may have sounded more than 200 years ago.

Free to attend. To avoid disappointment, advance booking is advised through Libraries NI.
