Game of Thrones Studio Tour Promotes Irish Roots in New ‘Experience the Legacy’ Campaign

28 April 2025: Game of Thrones Studio Tour is proud to unveil its latest campaign, ‘Experience the Legacy’, a stunning tribute to the breathtaking landscapes that shaped one of TV’s most iconic series. This cinematic feature places the Iron Throne in the heart of some of Northern Ireland’s most striking locations.

A true celebration of the region’s on-screen legacy, the feature brings the throne to Ballintoy Harbour’s rugged coastline, the iconic sands of Downhill Beach, and Fair Head, immersing audiences in the landscapes that helped bring the world of Westeros to life.

Aiveen Kelly, Marketing Manager at Game of Thrones Studio Tour stated:

“Our ‘Experience the Legacy’ campaign is more than a celebration of Game of Thrones. It’s a testament to Northern Ireland’s status as a world-class screen tourism destination. Its dramatic coastlines, historic castles and rugged landscapes have long provided the perfect backdrop for cinematic storytelling. This campaign not only showcases why these breathtaking locations were chosen for Westeros but also positions Northern Ireland as a must-visit destination for Film and TV fans eager to step into the worlds they love.”

The campaign aligns with broader efforts to promote screen tourism in Northern Ireland, building on the region’s growing reputation as a filming hub for major productions. Research highlights that ‘set-jetting’, where fans travel to destinations featured in Film and TV, is a significant driver of tourism, with Game of Thrones remaining one of the most influential franchises in this space.

To capitalise on this demand, the campaign’s cinematic film will run across TV, radio, and digital platforms, reaching key markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Europe, and beyond.

Sam Harding, Managing Director at Game of Thrones Studio Tour explained:

“Through this campaign, we celebrate the extraordinary beauty and narrative power of Northern Ireland. As a key part of its filmmaking legacy, we’re honoured to offer fans a chance to experience the real-world Westeros.”

When visitors arrive at Game of Thrones Studio Tour, they will be guided through authentic sets, interactive exhibits, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, all housed in the original Linen Mill Studios where over 30% of the series was filmed. The experience offers an unparalleled look at the artistry behind the making of one of television’s most ambitious series.
