Road bowling was listed as a national Irish pastime in the 1880s and today remains most closely associated with Armagh and Cork. Traditionally played on quiet country roads, players throw an iron bowling ball, known locally as a “bullet”, along a set course, with the winner being the player who completes it in the fewest throws.

Led by lifelong road bowling enthusiast Chris Mallon, this hands-on experience offers an introduction to the history and significance of the sport before giving visitors the opportunity to take part themselves. Learn the techniques used by experienced players and enjoy a fun game of road bowls in the heart of Armagh.
