John runs Newforge House, a historic family-run country house offering warm hospitality, luxurious rooms and delicious local seasonal food in tranquil surroundings. Set on the edge of the small village of Magheralin, Newforge House is an oasis of calm and indulgence, the perfect location to relax and rejuvenate.
John has a passion for local, seasonal food which he showcases in the daily dinner menu. The New Forge orchard provides fruits for desserts, chutneys and preserves, and is home to their friendly chickens who lay wonderful eggs for breakfast. Homegrown vegetables also feature in the dinner menu. For those wanting to experience the infamous Ulster Fry John uses the best local produce – including Moyallon dry cured bacon and Lurgan butcher, Madden’s award winning sausages, all freshly cooked to order and served with home baked breads.
New Forge also make their own gin and vodka infusions using home grown fruits such as raspberries, blackberries, damsons and sloes.
