SYSTIR in Concert at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral
St Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral
Saturday 15th March | 7.30pm | £20

The amazing SYSTIR, featuring daughters of the celebrated Irish composer, Michael McGlynn (their artistic director) has grown from the legendary ANUNA to create a new and eclectic musical ambience. The vocal ensemble, accompanied by a guitarist and Bodhran, utilise imaginative staging, lighting and movement to enhance their performances.

The inside setting of the historic Church of Ireland Cathedral is perfect as SYSTIR's performance blends modern vocal and instrumental techniques with ancient vocal performance practices to create a unique ethereal ambience. Their repertoire ranges from original songs, written and arranged by SYSTIR, to traditional folk elements as well as contemporary influences such as Kate Bush, Dolores O’Riordan and music from the Game of Thrones television series. Drawing from the wealth of indigenous European songs, including sean-nós, SYSTIR connects ancient vocal styles with contemporary storytelling. This cultural diversity enriches their shows, making each one a journey through various facets of the human experience, whilst they also feel familiar and relatable to the audience.
