Wednesday 30 July | 4pm | £10
Jason Diamond has worked at the F.E. McWilliam Gallery since it opened in 2008. He sits on the Committee of the Friends of the F.E. McWilliam Gallery.”
In this illustrated talk, Jason will give an overview of the life and career of F.E. McWilliam, considered by many as an exceptional Surrealist sculptor, from his childhood in Banbridge and the influence that growing up in the town had on him when it came to his artistic career; his enrolment at the Slade; his graduation from the Slade and winning the Robert Ross Travelling Scholarship which took him to Paris; his introduction to George Moore by George McCann; his friendship with the collector and Surrealist painter Roland Penrose who coined the phrase “an inventor of styles” for him.
