Local Flavours: Must-Try Autumn Dishes

Centered around the Food Heartland, an area of good agricultural land which results in great and award winning produce, means amazing food awaits! Come and taste!

Some suggestions for your foodie visit:

On the Hoof, Richhill is renowned for its BBQ style, with fresh meat and veg a mainstay of this catering. Pizzas are a big plus as is the Sunday lunch, now becoming a fast favourite.

Uluru, Armagh is the home of the indoor BBQ with the Australian influence in Armagh. Centrally located in the city and a great spot if you have an evening planned at The Market Place Theatre.

Grouchos Café Bar, Richhill has a strong focus on local produce, with influences from the Food Heartland and the Orchard County. The menu serves a range of local drinks supplied by local producers.

Watch out for apples, especially the Armagh Bramley apple, for a true taste of here!  A trip to one of the cideries is a must! Try Long Meadow Cider which offer a range of tours – Orchard Cider Tour experience with Granny’s Griddle Bread or Tour with Cider Tastings and Experience.  Learn more about orchard life and the workings of an orchard, followed up with either a bread making demonstration and in both cases with tastings of the product. Yum!

Salt Kitchen at The Boulevard, Banbridge offers a seasonal menu to cater and suit all tastes from sandwiches, mains, burgers, pizzas and more. Bramley apple features in crumble for dessert and drinks produced by Armagh Cider Company.

Blend & Batch is an independent coffee shop, with delicious menus for breakfast, lunch and casual dining. The space is contemporary, large windows offer a better chance to watch the world go by and the space allows enjoyment of great food.

Quails at The Gallery is situated at the FE McWilliam Gallery and Studio. Overlooking the gardens at the Gallery the setting is influenced by the creative setting and the lead chef Fernando, who brings a flair from his native home of Mexico to his cooking.

Open Tuesday to Sunday with late dining at the weekend, Dante’s Deli at The Palace menus offers brunch, snacks and more substantial meals. In the setting of the Archbishop’s Palace tie in a walk or burn off the energy in the playpark afterwards!

Alongside Bramley apples and ciders, Tayto crisps are another well-known product in the area. Experience the tour and tastings along the way, and learn more about the crisps – why not find your favourite variety! Tours are available during the week and must be booked online in advance.
