A brand-new trio formed by three seasoned session musicians, this collaboration between Archie Moss, Toby Shaer, and Jack Warnock was born out of a shared love for traditional music. Since meeting in 2019, the trio have established themselves not only as dynamic performers but also as sensitive re-interpreters of the tradition.

Each artist is well respected in their own right. Archie Moss (accordion) is a BBC award-winning musician, a celebrated composer, and one of the most in-demand button accordion players in the UK.

Toby Shaer (fiddle, flute, whistles, cittern) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer. He has toured extensively across Europe, Australia, and China with revered artists such as Cara Dillon, and, alongside Archie Moss, with Sam Kelly & the Lost Boys.

Jack Warnock (guitar, vocals) is an award-winning guitarist and singer. His compositions and repertoire are steeped in storytelling as he embraces the lineage of folk music in its truest form.

This trio approach their craft and arrangements with delicacy and thought, drawing influence from a plethora of traditions. A collaboration of three like-minded musicians presenting folk music through a contemporary lens.

Hailing from County Tyrone and performing together since 2011, The Whistlin’ Donkeys have built a huge following at home and around the world with their distinctive mix of Irish folk, traditional music and full-band energy.

The theatre shows give the band the chance to explore every side of their music, from powerful ballads and storytelling songs to the big singalongs and high-energy favourites that have become a trademark of a Whistlin’ Donkeys night.

With fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass and drums at the heart of the sound, the 2027 show will draw from the songs that have travelled with the band over the years alongside newer material and original music.

Whether it’s a quiet theatre listening to every word or the whole room on its feet singing back at the stage, the audience has always been a huge part of a Whistlin’ Donkeys show.
