Local Food Heroes – Linwoods Health Foods & Quails Fine Foods

Come along and hear the stories behind Linwoods Health Foods and Quails Fine Foods; from modest beginnings to multi-award winning businesses. 

Armagh native and renown food critic Joris Minne will chair the event which will include a glass of cider or apple juice on arrival and some delicious samples of Linwoods and Quails produce.

Linwoods started out over 50 years ago as a small local shop run by the Woods family in Armagh, they diversified into a bakery and dairy business in 1980 and was run by John Woods for the next 38 years. After suffering a health setback in 1996, John became fascinated by the benefits of food for health and wellbeing. In 2002, John discovered the nutritional powerhouse that is milled Flaxseed and realised that he could make it convenient and accessible to everyone.                           

Today, Linwoods Health Foods is a market leader producing a wide range of healthy seed blends that can be easily added to many types of foods to enrich your daily diet.

Quails is a food institution in Banbridge having been in operation for over 125 years. Joe Quail is now the fourth generation to run the business. Joe has overseen a large expansion in their range of products, which now features not just their famous meats, but a host of delicious artisan cheeses, breads, cakes, desserts and jams. 

Today, the combined butchers, food hall, deli and restaurant in Newry Street is a mecca for those wishing to enjoy the finest of the local food culture.
