VISUAL ARTS

The Market Place Theatre galleries host a changing programme of visual art exhibitions throughout the year in the main Gallery and Foyer Walls.  Young budding artists have the opportunity to view and experience visual arts across a wide spectrum of mediums from painting and drawing, traditional and contemporary Craft practices, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The Market Place hosts exhibitions by local, national and international solo and group artists annually providing fantastic opportunities for students to meet exhibiting artists through our programme of artist talks, gallery tours and exhibition workshops all FREE of charge. Exhibitions are suitable for all students with an interest in the arts from junior school year 8 to students studying GCSE and A Level Art & Design, Textiles, Photography, Technology and Design and computer science.

Our galleries are open Monday to Sat 9.30am – 4.30pm for schools to visit and later on show nights. We encourage students to explore and find inspiration from the exhibitions by taking photographs and sitting with a sketch pad to further their studies (We can even offer easels for students to work on so please enquire with our box office staff).
