PRIMARY VISUAL ARTS

The Market Place Theatre galleries host a changing programme of visual art exhibitions throughout the year in the main Gallery and Foyer Walls.  Young children have a natural curiosity of visual art and getting hands on experience working with arts materials so here at the Market Place Theatre we encourage schools to visit the exhibitions as early as pre-school up to Primary 7.

Young budding artists have the opportunity to view and experience visual arts across a wide spectrum of mediums from painting and drawing, traditional and contemporary Craft practices, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The Market Place hosts exhibitions by local, national and international solo and group artists annually providing fantastic opportunities for young students to draw inspiration from their work. Young students are encouraged to visit and attend our annual programme of artist talks, gallery tours and exhibition workshops all FREE of charge.  Upcoming exhibitions and hands on arts experiences that are particularly suitable to primary school children are updated on the website.

Our galleries are open 7 days a week from 9.30am – 5.30pm and later on show nights. We encourage students to explore and find inspiration from the work on display and we love to see young artists sitting with their sketch books in both the gallery and Foyer creating their own works of art.
