- This is a single storey building
- Entrances have automatic, wide doors with level access throughout building.
- Ramps offer easy access to garden and studio (single-storey structure).
- An on-site wheelchair is available.
- The reception, tourist information and café have lowered service desks.
- Spacious accessible toilets are available with baby changing within a cubicle.
- The Café offers a manoeuvrable layout.
- Large-print documents are available on request.
- Assistance dogs are welcome.
- Seating, good ventilation and lighting are prominent in the gallery and throughout the building.
- The gallery offers a free digital guide through Bloomberg Connects with audio, BSL, multilingual support.
- The F.E. McWilliam Gallery & Studio staff are disability awareness trained, and we are a JAM Card friendly venue.
Please note: Due to ongoing construction, some accessibility features may be temporarily adjusted. However, we are fully committed to maintaining complete accessibility throughout the works. The gallery expansion is set to complete in autumn 2026. This project will introduce a new collection gallery, a Changing Places facility, and enhanced amenities to further improve accessibility.
How to get here
The F.E. McWilliam Gallery & Studio is located just outside Banbridge, near the main Belfast to Dublin Road, also known as the A1.
By Car
- The Gallery is directly accessible from the A1 Road between Belfast and Dublin – take the exit for The Boulevard Outlet Shopping Centre.
- Free car parking is available on-site.
- There are dedicated accessible parking bays for Blue Badge holders located close to the main entrance.
- There are slight ramps at the entrance to gallery.
- The car park closes at 5:00pm unless otherwise stated.
By Bus
- Route 330c: Banbridge Town Centre Bus Station → Boulevard Shopping Centre → Lotus Village (for F.E. McWilliam Gallery)

- A local shuttle bus service runs from Banbridge Town Centre Bus Station to the Gallery.
- Ask the driver for the F.E. McWilliam Gallery, the stop is called “Lotus Village.”
- There are two stops at this location, one on each side of the road.
- For safety and easier access, it is best to stay on the bus past The Boulevard stop and get off at the second Lotus Village stop, which is on the same side of the road as the Gallery and near the pedestrian entrance
- First departure: 9:35am from Banbridge Bus Depot
- Monday – Friday: Hourly with final pick-up from Gallery Bus Stop at 6:11pm
- Saturday: 2 hourly with final pick-up from Gallery Bus Stop at 5:36pm
- No service on Bank Holidays
By Foot
- The Gallery is approximately a 30-minute walk from Banbridge Town Centre.
- The walking route follows Newry Road, also known as the A26.
- Be aware that some sections of the walk may have uneven pavements or limited pedestrian crossings.
