Stray Sod – an Art Exhibition by Orlaith Cullinane

This exhibition was a result of a 10 month residency which took a fresh look at one of Ireland’s strongest museum collections.  It underlined how a user led democratised approach to collections interpretation can cast new light on the familiar and create original narratives and debates.

During her residency local artist Orlaith Cullinane explored the collection from a new perspective. It was an enlightening way to observe well known objects in an unexpected way.  They became animated participants rather than objects to be catalogued and labelled.  Each piece is a representation of the artist’s interpretation of the object.
